"...Willey's story masterfully teases out information until the final pages--and the ultimate revelations are well worth the torture." --Booklist, October 2012

School Library Journal has reviewed FOUR SECRETS with the following praise:

"These kids have never been in trouble before, and their first act of rebellion goes wildly over-the-top in a believable, out-of-control spiral. These middle school kids encounter drugs, alcohol, sexuality, and violence, but Willey sensitively and skillfully reveals not only the details of their drastic act, but also the secrets that the three friends and their victim harbor, secrets that shape who they are and what their futures may be."

In 2011 I was honored to receive the Michigan Reading Association Gwen Frostic Award, an annual award that recognizes an individual artist for impacting and enhancing literacy in Michigan. In 2010 A SUMMER OF SILK MOTHS received an Honor Award from the Green Earth Book Awards, given to books for children that encourage environmental stewardship.

Silk Moths symbolize creativity, regeneration and dream life.

I grew up in a very large family in St. Joseph Michigan. I am holding my baby sister Mary in this family portrait. Two more children were born into my family before I left home at seventeen.

For thirty years, I have written in many different genres, enjoying them all equally. My current work reflects this. I have a young adult novel scheduled for release in Fall 2012. I have recently published the picture book The 3 Bears and Goldilocks (Atheneum), illustrated by Heather Solomon. With this book, my love affair with folktales and fairy tales continues...

A decade ago, I wrote 3 folktales for children, all of which featured the character Beatrice, a very brave and clever girl from the north woods. Clever Beatrice and its sequels are all illustrated by the amazing Heather Solomon.
